Why Add Additional Inscriptions to Memorial Stones?

Over time, families often wish to add new inscriptions to existing memorials. Whether commemorating the passing of a spouse, adding beloved grandchildren’s names, or including meaningful dates and verses, additional memorial inscriptions help keep your loved one’s memorial current.

Any additional lettering required will match your existing inscription as close as possible using modern methods. Memorials with lettering in a very poor condition can be re-faced and re-cut. All methods of lettering can be produced including cut and gild, cut and enamel and raised granite.

It is common to cherish a favourite picture as a way to remember a loved one’s life. We can reproduce almost any design/picture you wish according to the stone you choose, which produces a truly unique and personal memorial.

We can even create a special personalised etching from a photograph. Etchings are an appropriate choice for decorating polished granite memorials found in most cemeteries.

Additional Inscriptions FAQ's

Most additional inscriptions can be completed within 4-6 weeks, depending on weather conditions and cemetery requirements.
Yes, though older stones may require restoration work first. We’ll assess the memorial’s condition and advise on the best approach.
In this case, we advise that granites cannot match as they vary from block to block , we may recommend complementary materials that enhance rather than exact match.
For quality results, we prefer dry conditions. Work may be delayed during periods of heavy rain, frost and snow.
Our craftspeople can replicate most lettering styles, including elaborate Victorian scripts and unique family designs.

Gaulters have been a family run business since 1929,  the founder  Arthur Gaulter  was succeed by his son William Gaulter , who unfortunately passed away at the  tender  age of thirty-nine  the company was then taken over  by his wife Madeline who is still running the business today along with her daughter Sarah  who strive to keep the  values and traditions invested by Arthur and William.
